"We are a charitable and humanitarian organization registered with National Council for Children Services (NCCS). We cater for orphaned, vulnerable and destitute children. We protect children from other countries referred to us by United Nation High Commission for Refugees. We house over 85+ children raging from birth to adulthood. Many of the children come from the immediate environs of the home brought in by members of the community.

Our History and Purpose
The Mama Fatuma Foundation is registered charitable organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of the children in the care of The Mama Fatuma Goodwill Children’s Home. The Foundation was founded on November

Description
The Mama Fatuma Goodwill Children’s home has been providing a safe, healthy, and loving environment for Kenya’s orphans and destitute children for more thirty years. During this time Mama Fatuma has earned a reputation for excellence in Kenya and the whole of East Africa. Since its humble beginnings Mama Fatuma has cared for hundreds of orphaned children with no where else to turn. Mama Fatuma is located in the heart of eastern Nairobi near the border of Eastleigh and the Mathare slum.

The children in the home’s care come from a variety of backgrounds; many are abandoned, abused, or orphaned by HIV/AIDS and other causes. Mama Fatuma also cares for a number of refugee children referred by the Kenya Children’s Department. Mama Fatuma ardently subscribes to and follows the principles established in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, The African Charter on the Welfare of Children, and the Kenya Children’s Act of 2001. Mama Fatuma is also a charter member of the Kenya Foster Care Network (KEFCAN), founded in 2008 for the promotion of best practices in the child welfare sector.

Mama Fatuma is supported almost entirely by the community. Unfortunately these donations often come erratically and the home struggles to pay school fees for children who have not been sponsored. With your help, Mama Fatuma will be able to continue to provide Nairobi’s neglected children with food, shelter, education, medical care and support.
